Movement System Syndromes of the Shoulder
Don't forget to prep yourself with pre-requisite course (UQ Foundation Webinar Series)!
Evolution of Scapular Movement System Syndromes
One of the best selling physical therapy textbooks is shown in the left photo: Diagnosis and Treatment of Movement Impairment Syndromes by Dr. Shirley Sahrmann. This was published, oh, just a few years ago, in 2002. Since then, Sahrmann and Associates have continued to improve the Movement System Diagnoses based on the best evidence.
Join us for the 2-day virtual course focused on the scapular and humeral diagnoses. The most updated diagnoses are named differently from what is described in the original textbook. It is strongly recommended that you prepare yourself for the June 2-day virtual course with the Foundation Webinar series (pre-requisite!), to optimize your learning in June.
CEUs through California PT Association
At Learn Movement System, we offer CEU's approved by California PT Association, which has one of the strictest CEU applications in the United States. This means, most other states would honor the CEU's approved from CPTA (except for Texas, that we are aware of). After completing the course evaluation, you will take a post-course test (score >80%) and receive a certificate of completion. Please submit your certificate of completion to your state. In some states, you may be required to submit additional course information (please check your state requirements).
Description of 2-day Virtual Course:
Movement System Syndromes of the Shoulder
Date: June 8 & 9, 2024 (WILL BE RECORDED)
Time: 9am~5:15pm & 9am~5pm, respectively
Location: Virtual (Zoom meeting). If purchased after 6/9/24, you will have recording access in the course page.
Speakers: Dr. Renee Ivens, Dr. Shirley Sahrmann, Dr. Theresa Spitznagle, Dr. Cheryl Caldwell, Dr. Suzy Cornbleet
Course Description
This 2-day virtual course describes the systematic examination of the upper extremity with specific focus on the shoulder. Most commonly seen movement system syndromes of the scapula and humerus will be presented. Neuromusculoskeletal adaptations associated with these syndromes and key interventions for each diagnosis will be discussed.
For participants attending the Movement System Syndromes course for the first-time, a pre-requisite for this course is the Upper Quarter Movement System Syndromes Foundation Webinars that cover the key principles of the kinesiopathologic model. These webinars are presented in April and May 2024. Recordings of the webinars will be available after the live webinar sessions.
Participants will receive guidance on how to integrate test results to determine a movement system diagnosis. Discussion will take place to explain how the diagnosis and examination results provide the guidelines for treatment. Participants will observe live examinations of patients performed by faculty, and engage in analysis of prepared videos with instructors.
Pre-Recorded Videos
The Upper Quarter Basics course, is provided for you for free, courtesy of the Program in Physical Therapy at Washington University in St. Louis. JUST the Upper Quarter Basics Course is a 5 hour 45 minute content for you to study, and review even after the course. Get yourself familiar with the scapular & humeral diagnoses, and the specific movement system examinations.
World-Class Instructors
You are learning from physical therapists who have been developing the Movement System Syndromes framework for decades, and the instructors trusted by the core faculty. When you participate in the LIVE sessions on June 8 & 9, interact with the speakers, and get coached on your movement analysis in a small group setting.
Clear Clinical Reasoning
Why do your patients have shoulder pain? Why do people return to the clinic from time to time with re-aggravated symptoms? Learn the systematic examination, and using your knowledge from the kinesiopathologic concept, figure out the underlying condition of your patient's shoulder pain. Your patients will THANK YOU for taking care of their root issue!
1st Step of Your Growth
Once you have an appreciation of the kinesiopathologic model within the shoulder region, you will want to apply the principles to other body parts: cervical spine, thoracic spine! Consider upgrading to ALL ACCESS to study the past and future virtual courses (including past courses from 3/4/2024 onward). ALL ACCESS includes virtual registration to the October 2024 shoulder & cervical spine course!
Virtual Perks
Skip the airport hassle, and save time & money on travels / hotel / meals by joining us from the comfort of your home! And no one is blocking your view of the demonstration because everyone gets the front row seat!
Learn and Review
Recording access seems to be the standard for continuing education these days. Though the breakout sessions cannot be recorded, you will have access to all of the lectures and live demonstrations from this 2-day virtual course.
